Brief.
Create a high-impact facade installation that would generate excitement around the Jo Malone launch into Boots. The installation needed to reflect the inspiration behind the fragrance while delivering a memorable brand experience in one of London's busiest shopping destinations.
The challenge was to translate an intangible scent story into a bold, tangible visual statement, one capable of stopping foot traffic, sparking social sharing, and firmly establishing Jo Malone's presence within a new retail environment. The installation needed to work at scale, hold its own against the visual noise of a major high street, and remain durable enough to withstand extended outdoor display while never losing its craft-led, premium feel.
Solution.
Inspired by the spirit of the coast, we designed and delivered a dramatic 3D facade that transformed the exterior of the building into a piece of immersive art. The concept drew directly from the fragrance's coastal notes, translating scent and story into a rich, tactile visual world that passers-by could engage with long before they ever stepped inside.
Oversized sculptural rock formations built genuine depth and drama across the facade, while beautifully hand-painted coastal buoys added authentic texture and colour throughout the design.
At the heart of the installation, a spectacular 7-metre sea monster wove its way across the building, acting as the centrepiece and a striking photo moment for shoppers.
Intricate scenic finishes and handcrafted details ensured the installation felt artisanal rather than mass-produced, while weather-resistant materials and finishes were selected to withstand prolonged outdoor exposure in a high-footfall environment.
Every element was carefully produced and installed to create a story that celebrated the launch, turning the building itself into a piece of brand theatre. The result was an unmissable moment on the high street that captured the essence of Jo Malone's coastal fragrance while cementing a memorable first impression for the brand's arrival into Boots.
